Sign in

Velo is a player. It shows the channels, movies and series from an IPTV service you already subscribe to, so the first thing it needs is that service's login.

   Open Velo. The sign-in screen has two tabs — Credentials for your provider's server address, username and password, and M3U URL for a playlist link — and a QR code on the left.

   Typing with a remote is slow, so scan the QR code with your phone instead. A page opens on your phone, served by the TV itself over your own Wi-Fi. Fill in the same details there and tap Send to TV. Nothing leaves your network.

   The TV says the details arrived, checks them with your provider and signs in.

Getting things ready

The first time, Velo downloads your provider's whole lineup and program guide before letting you in, so nothing is missing later.

   Live TV, Movies, Series and the Program Guide fill in one by one. A large provider takes a few minutes, and it only happens once. If something fails, Velo offers Retry rather than letting you into a half-built library.

   

Finding your way around

   Home shows what you've been watching: live channels, and the series and movies you're partway through. New Episodes appears when a show you follow has one, and Fresh Arrivals shows well-rated movies your provider added this month.

   A live channel joins Home's Live TV row once you've watched it for 30 seconds, so channels you only flick past while looking for something stay out of it.

   Press Back to open the menu. It holds Home, Live TV, Movies, Series, Library, Favorites, Sports and Settings, with the profile you're using under the Velo logo. Pressing left at the edge of a row doesn't open it — Back does. Press Back on the menu itself to leave Velo.

   Hold OK on any tile for its menu: save for later, download, follow, add to favourites and more. Almost every action in Velo lives behind a long press.
