Why some titles have no subtitles

Whether a movie has subtitles depends on the file your provider chose to carry, not on Velo.

   Some releases keep every subtitle track they were published with. Many are cut down to video and one audio track. If the CC menu offers nothing, the file genuinely has nothing.

Connect your SubDL account

Velo finds subtitles through SubDL, using your own free account. That way nobody shares a download limit and your viewing never passes through Velo. It takes about two minutes, all on your phone — nobody should type a key with a remote.

   On the TV: Settings → Subtitles → Connect with your phone. (Or, while watching, press CC → Search for subtitles → Set up now.)

   Scan the QR code with your phone. A Velo page opens — everything else happens there.

   Tap Open SubDL. New to SubDL? Sign up — free is enough, the daily limit is far beyond what a household watches. Already have an account? Log in. On the API page, tap Copy API key (it starts with subdl_).

   Come back to the Velo page — if SubDL opened in the same window, press Back, or simply scan the code on your TV again — then paste the key and tap Send to TV. The TV checks it with SubDL first: if it isn't accepted, your phone says so and you can paste it again. The key is stored only on that TV.

   Set your Subtitle language in Settings → Subtitles if it isn't your device language. Each TV is connected once.

Find subtitles for a title

   While watching a movie or episode, press OK for the controls and choose CC.

   The Audio & Subtitles menu lists any tracks built into the file, then Search for subtitles. The title pauses while the menu is open and carries on once you've chosen.

   Not connected to SubDL yet? Velo offers to set it up there and then.

   Pick one from the results. Velo downloads it and playback continues with subtitles on.

   Velo remembers your choice. Play the title again and the subtitles — and any sync adjustment — come straight back from the TV, with no download and no connection needed.

   Watching a series? Turn subtitles on in one episode and the next one starts with them on: Velo fetches them in the background while you watch, from the same release where it can. Choose Subtitles Off to stop.

If the timing is off

Subtitles are timed to a particular release, and yours may be a different one.

   Open CC again and choose Adjust sync. Nudge earlier or later in half-second steps until speech and text line up.

   Or go back to the results and pick a different version — several are usually offered.
